ONE-LINERS - THROW-AWAYS - AND ANNOUNCEMENTS DAILY SPECIAL

--[8-25-08]--
We have a pear tree in the backyard. Two stories: One - squirrels grab up the pears and drag them all other our yard and eat the pears, but leave all these little bits of chewed up pear everywhere. So I'll walk outside one morning and see this little pile of pair bits on the step (need to take a picture of that). Two - I cooked up some of the pears (apperntly edible), so I get the idea that I need to can a bunch of these. So I pick 3 gallons worth of them, and toss them in the fridge. Two weeks later I pick up canning supplies from my grandma. THAT was two weeks ago. Maybe even three. I've now decided (that if they're not rotten) I'll make pear butter jelly. Something like that.

--[8-06-08]--
I took a hatchet to my plumbing over the weekend. It's a story you'd find humorous if you've ever tried to work on plumbing, but have no business doing so. Look for the story in the coming years right here, on generictrend.com! And remember folks, generictrend.com is your one stop source for hours of mind-blowing entertainment.

I did my taxes! I finished the Kindly Ones - now I have precious little of vol. 10 left [title omitted for non-spoiling purposes]. New stuff in seeds. Look for more content when I'm not kicking the shit out of my kitchen.

--[4-02-08]--
I'm reading The Kindly Ones - Sandman vol.9 for the second time. Even though I know how the whole thing is going to turn out - it still makes me a bit sad.

--[3-09-08]--
I don't know - when you're up 40 with under five to play and you're still playing your starters and looking to score quickly - that's running up the score in my book. Looks I get to hate another team.

In other news: New Zealand is suing the Alighni. Two suits actaully. We don't have much sailing action - but plenty of lawyer action.

--[2-26-08]--
Once picked up an Oscar - that's amazingly cool. Good to see that there still may be some appreication and recognition of beauty left in this world.

Second time in two years I get to run out a flag onto the court. I was the last "I". It was a nail bighter tongiht but the fans went away happy.

Whew. Took a big hit to the upper chest and right wrist from a flying piece off wood off the table saw. Important lesson - don't cut too small of pieces on there. Ouch. Piece of wood was travelling so fast that it cut my wrist through my sweatshirt.

Why is it that you hear how much a movie cost - all the time? It's not important. Why are so many things that aren't important at all brought up and forced upone people so much? Is there some overall scheme to lull us to sleep? Let's try to stop it - when you hear some other bullshit piece of information like that - don't pass it on - instead talk about something important. Like the movie? Don't mention how much it cost - instead talk about how good or bad it was. Talk about a scene that may have changed the way you look at life.

Don't worry - tomorrow I'll have gotten over my tramautic table saw event and be back to complaining about nonsense, making jokes no one understands (and aren't really jokes), and talking about how much movies cost.

--[2-14-08]--
Happy Valentines Day everybody. We're coming up on the third year aniversary of the website. To celebrate, we'll be offering T-Shirts for readers of the site. And just like three years ago, I still haven't learned how to silk screen, so none will be made. And having made none, I will be hard to send them out.

Anyone else anxious to hear the results of the GGYC lawsuit? I am. I was thinking about the movie TANK on my drive into work today. James Garner. He was the Scrounger you know. In real life there were more than three Americans at the camp. They were moved to a new camp before the escape took place - I read the book. Still love that movie (the great escape) though.

For all the fans of Starship Troopers 2, looks like there's another sequel coming out. Before I give that one away, let me speak about Starship Troopers for a moment. I saw the first movie in the theater - it's a pretty decent movie. Doesn't try to be more than it is, doesn't take itself too seriously. So when I heard that the sequel was coming directly to TV before it was released on DVD - wow! how excited was I?

Here's what I came away with: The planet of Troopers 2 was very dark (this was integral to the plot and not just a way to save on scenery costs). There were lots of naked chics (not unlike the first movie, but having less plot purpose than the first). There was some sort of mind possessing bug (which wasn't a rip off of the Species movies). Ok, there's my thoughts on that.

So, the new sequel that reminds me so much of Starship Troopers 2? Wargames 2. Yep. Wargames 2. I looked at the plot summary - looks like they used the original script and made some changes: They changed the main characters name. Scratched out any references to Soviets, Russians, or Vodka and wrote in Terrorists. Which of course all makes sense.

You can read about it for yourself, look at the imdb mention or the wikipedia mention

Hell, I'd piss on a sparkplug if I thought it would do any good.
It's not in there. It has to be in there somewhere.

Television Power Rangers (1993) - A meteor is sent towards Earth by evil space aliens in the television series, but is pushed off course by several Megazords.
This is real, look at it here, reference article.
Maybe we have things all wrong. War, drought, climate change. Maybe the answer lies in Megazords. Megazords. I'm so disappointed with society.

I recommend it for wood drawers. I've read that it works good for aiding w/ non-sticking, though I never realized how well it works. It works fantastically - enough to blurb about it here.

--[1-7-08]--
Holy shit am I tired of getting little tiny, but painful, cuts on my right thumb. UGH
Q: Why are the kitchen cabinets not quite square, level, or plumb?
A: Because I'm building them.

Everything you make in life, you should just stand back a few feet and squint, if it looks good, you're golden.

Looking to print some free mini year long calendars? Check out: FREE. Also on that site are a host of other free printable things.

Read today that the 6th most consumed fruit juice (I'll assume in the US) is Prunce juice. My pick for the top five? In order: Orange, Apple, Grape, Cranberry, Grapefruit.

It's time to pick up your calendars - Half off everywhere.

A sadder end to the wonderful holiday season? I come into work to hang out in the kitchen for a while (as I normally do in the morning) and see a giant poinsettia dumped in the garbage can. Blam! Funs over. Get back to work. But hey, don't get me wrong, it's a terrific place to work.

Looking for a job? Send me your resume: thE heaD sheeP.

I've got to help make room for baby and could sure use the referall bonus my fantastic company hands out.

--[12-27-07]--
New stuff in seeds section. Check it out. Tell a friend is you like it.

Hope everyone had a nice holiday season. Mine was just fantastic. Couldn't have worked out better. What better joy could the announcement of a new life bring? Apparently thousands of things.

Myspace only allows 500 character comments. In response to the question of the correct title to In His Hands:

This song is now officially called "Verse Chorus Verse", but only since the release of the box set.
There is another Nirvana song on the No Alternative compilation CD titled "Verse Chorus Verse", but is a completely different song. It's also referred to as Sappy, Sad, Laundry Room, or whatever else a bootlegger feels like calling it.
"In His Hands/Verse Chorus Verse" has turned up on a lot of bootlegs. It has been called Token Easter Song, but this is incorrect.
The version of Verse Chorus Verse that is on the With the Lights Out box set was recorded during the Nevermind sessions, but never fully surfaced until the box set came out - along with the Old Age.
Also, an early title for In Utero was also Verse Chorus Verse - a popular phrase w/ Kurt.

I haven't been to work on time consistantly for the better part of a year. The past few mornings its been dark. I feel if its too dark, then you shouldn't be required to get up. Don't we still live in a civilized society?

--[11-27-07]--
Electric is online. It is quite the rush, not electricuting yourself. Then when all the switches work just like you planned - fantastic stuff.

Free t-shirt for suggested tip of the month goes to the guestbook user "ndog". Being as "ndog" is the only one to submit a tip this month. Of course the user did create the contest, which is just another example of me being a pushover to the generictrend.com audience. Anything for a buck I say.

Everyone have a happy thanksgiving?

--[11-19-07]--
No matter how quickly you take apart something and despite taking no notes on its construction, things just seem to take a lot longer to put back together. And they never seem to work just the same. Always making some nasty rattle like you put a screw in the wrong place, or reconnected the wires backwards.

Instead of all those shock warnings, and call a professional crap, how about at leat a wiring diagram? Who can keep all those colors straight. And how about just one type of screw? That way I don't have to remember that the screws kind of close to the screwdriver go someplace that the screws near the screwdriver don't.

Viral Marketing: Lately when I've posted comments on blogs or news articles, or the occasional message board I've been using the website somewhere in there. I received the first random person leaving a message in the guest book. Exciting stuff. Now I know that someone I don't know has seen this thing.

Incidently I used the name John Nation as my name on a message board and this guy was looking for a John Nation he used to know. Maybe the whole experience will give the guy a mildly interesting story to tell someone when their conversation hits a lull.

Eventually I'll learn that I don't really like whiskey.

Been doing a lot of renovation work lately. Mainly sanding the kitchen floor. Though I have not painted any fences nor waxed the truck (doesn't really need it) I still hope that my defensive karate will have improved.

My belt? JC Penney.

Continuing the work theme: The coughing continues, but wait there's more!

He's wearing a white shirt than you can sort of see through and has kindly left the top button unbuttoned. Thanks. Why don't you grow a mustache, find a TransAm, and go bring back 400 cases of Coors across state lines (and that's bootlegging).

I always did think that Texarkana was a cool name.

--[11-07-07]--
It's day 4 of the coughing coworker. He doesn't cover his mouth, but he clears his throat probably 30 - 45 times an hour. Very annoying. I've thought numerous times about his head exploding when I shoot him. I have no gun here though, so it will have to stay a fantasy. Plus my life isn't worth throwing away over this ass, but ohh sometimes it would be tempting.

Did I mention that the motherfucker randomly hums?! Holy shit, shut the fuck up you annoying motherfucker. Shit. (yes, I'm writing this at work)

We're both looking forward to having a working stove in our kitchen and not having a non working stove in our living room. Fortunately their our no major appliances in any of our bathrooms.

It seems the Swiss don't want to run a fair 33rd America's Cup. Why not disclose the design rules? Not that any sport is free of cheating and manipulation anymore, but at least try to give the appearance that they are. If you take money out of it, the 32nd Cup was based almost entirely on skill (and the ever present luck), and was very exciting to watch (if you like sailing).

A real dousy of a easter egg is added to the site, but it is also the hardest to find. It's well worth the effort for looking though. Look in the seeds section. Somewhere in there. It's 1:20 am and still raining, though the only water getting into the house is through the kitchen - roofers should finally be out tomorrow. Basement held in strong. Note: the easter egg count button hasn't been updated - should read six, but I'm lazy.

-[10-16-07]-
New stuff up in the seeds section. Look foor the doodles.

-[10-15-07]-
I cut the grass for the first time in easily three months, but there's been a drought of sorts around here lately, so the grass wasn't too out of control. It wasn't too under control either. Luckily no one saw it necessary to throw rocks through the windows to complain.

I'm looking for sponsorship for my creative endeavors: writing, furniture making, painting, and environmentally sensitive building (don't think 'green' - think something without caulk). I'm nearing completion on one book and am actively writing a second. I've got some ideas for a line of portable trendy looking furniture - I've already built a few prototypes.
